My name is Rodney and I run Aspire Pictures. About 15 years ago, after completing a Masters degree in environmental studies and international development, I embarked on a project to become a photojournalist. I succeeded. I received numerous awards and had my work published and broadcast by The Age, Sydney Morning Herald, ABC Television, SBS Television, Guardian Australia, Australian Geographic, Asian Geographic, and The Herald Sun.
My easy going and professional manner sets people at ease, so that natural moments are always just moments away.
I produce the shoot in conjunction with the client’s communications department and use professional cameras and lenses.
To get your message out I produce videos for schools, business, governments, charities, and corporate clients.
Using the latest professional editing programs, I ensure your video is on message.
I help identify the message of your video and then develop shot lists and scripts around that.
Need some stunning overhead content. I provide footage in 4k.
Need cinematic Steadicam footage for you video story. I have you covered.
I bring my story telling background, visual skills, production and editing services to you by providing awesome photographic and video content for corporate, government, tourism, charity, advertising and editorial clients across Australia and internationally.
Videos that tell your story
Aspire Pictures has a wealth of project knowledge in terms of delivering powerful short films that are on message. We have delivered short films for national organisations for over 10 years. This has involved the planning, scripting, production, direction and editing short films for SBS, Guardian Australia, RACV, Oxfam, Australian Red Cross, GetUp!, City Of Melbourne, Doxa, Bush Heritage Australia and Baptcare.
My easy-going and professional nature provides the foundations for positive and ongoing relationships with many clients. My detailed production processes, technical expertise, quality control, and delivery mechanisms allow inspiring photographic and video content to come to life.
What my clients say
It takes more than just technical knowledge to deliver great pictures. It takes a sense of people and the ability to capture spirit and emotion. With Aspire Pictures, that’s what you get – great photos and video that make a direct link with the viewer.
Jason Garmon, Communications and Media Mangager, Oxfam New Zealand
Rodney has a remarkable way of putting his subjects at ease and blending in. Over many years and in many different circumstances, I have trusted Rodney to respond creatively to each documentary brief. He treats his subjects with compassion and artfully captures the dignity in each person, creature and situation. I have no hesitation recommending him, particularly for community and portraiture work where it’s crucial to tell the story respectfully, with humanity and intelligence.
Kelly Chandler, Communications, City of Melbourne.
Rodney has worked for Australian Red Cross on many projects across both photography and video. Rodney is one of the very few operators in the market today that can successfully deliver both video and stills, many say they can do both but very few have the skills, experience and creativity to succeed in both fields. I would recommend Aspire Pictures to your organisation for any audio visual storytelling requirements.
Phil Brown, Manager Multimedia and Publications, Australian Red Cross.
It is always a great pleasure to work with Rodney – he is very talented, personable, and has a rare talent of bringing any person or subject to life.
Euphemia Russell, Communications and Events Co-ordinator, Good Shepherd Microfinance.
